Who knew Flat Rock even has Syrah growing on the property - they let that secret out last vintage (2010) which was a great inaugural version ... now one vintage later Ontario has offered up a completely different set of climatic conditions and this is a completely different wine. Here the palate out-performs the rather silent nose: smoked meat and white pepper come through while the raspberry fruit hangs back - there's also a nice spiciness to the finish.
