Hinterbrook 2011 Cabernet Franc
The problem with being between vintages is that there are inevitably two vintages of wine on the shelves. There are some 2011 and some 2012 (plus a few 2010s kicking about). 2011 was a decent vintage but it has the unfortunate task of being sandwiched between two really good vintages, thus on the same day you’re tasting 2012 or 2010 you’ll also get the 2011 and you can see/taste the difference a vintage makes. This 2011 Cabernet Franc is light and easy quaffing with plenty of raspberry and tobacco notes along with a decent amount of tannins, but nowhere near the power of the other two vintages. This one’s simple yet tasty. Drink now thru 2016. Price: $20.00 – Rating: *** ½+
