This is the follow up vintage to what the Speck boys started in 2007 experimenting with a 54-month on lees bubbly. 2008 would be considered by many to be a better sparkling year and with great acidity being the hallmark of this wine the vintage does show its dominance in this department from the previous version. There’s also plenty of toasty goodness, biscuit and hazelnut notes and a rather lengthy finish; where this wine falls just shy of the 2007 is in the complexity department … but it’s an ever so slight shortfall.
