The story of Rancourt winery is a sad one. A passionate winemaker with a zest for life and a vision for his winery was cut short, or too soon, leaving his winery rudderless and adrift. But it seems they may be finding their legs once again with the addition of Jean-Pierre Colas taking the winemaking reigns. This 2007 Merlot has a nose of chocolate, blueberry and a touch of smoke; the palate puts vanilla and blueberry on the tongue and keep it there for a nice finish. Price: $21.80 - Rating: *** 1/2+
