The nose on this wine might seem simplistic and a bit of a turn-off: spicy and wooden - but before giving up on it give it a sip, then another, you'll find that you'll be pleasantly surprised. It starts out peppery with raspberry and blueberry skin while adding a little oak spice. I picked up some hints of VA (volatile acidity) that ran nose to tongue, but here's hoping that blows off with a little time. The finish is the strength of this wine: raspberry-cherry-strawberry all poking their heads out along with a cocoa/coffee linger. Price: $55.00 - Rating: *** 1/2+
