Le Clos Jordanne 2011 Pinot Noir, Le Clos Jordanne Vineyard
2010 was kind of an odd year for Le Clos, they were transitioning winemakers from the old guard (Thomas Bachelder) to the new (Sebastien Jacquey), thus you ended up with a muddled mixed message in the bottle. But 2011 marks the year that Jacquey fully took the reins and what's in the bottle is fully his vision. Probably one of the prettiest Clos' I have tasted in awhile - the nose has violets and mineral leading it off before robust fruit of cherry, plum and raspberry take over. On the palate there's a purity of fruit here with lovely acidity to balance: cherry and raspberry with a nice hint of anise. Seems Jacquey has found his own voice and he seems to sing quite nicely on his own. Price: $40.00 - Rating: ****+
