If winemaker Derek Barnett had a feathery tail it would have stood up and fanned out when he talked about this wine … and rightly so. The vintage of 2010 was a good one for Syrah here in Ontario – and that can’t be said about too many of our vintages. Nose-wise it’s full of white pepper and smoked meat (right on for Syrah). On the palate it’s like walking into a deli with your mouth open: peppered and cured meat with hints of raspberry, strawberry and black cherry for seasoning; it’s one beauty of a Syrah.
