Closson Chase 2011 Chardonnay - The Loyalist
Now, in theory I'm not allowed to tell you about this wine because it's not really a retail wine, it's made for restaurants, but if you get a chance to try this wine you'll be doing yourself a real favour. Made from fruit sourced from Closson Chase's own home vineyard this wine shows a real sexy creaminess to it. Vanilla cream, butterscotch and lemon meringue on the nose, while the palate is juicy with sweet apple being carried along by that vanilla cream, butterscotch/caramel and meringue. It's a taste treat experience for under $25. Of course I would be remiss if I did not mention the very Ontario acidity that this wine has, and that's what keeps it nicely balanced and not too heavy. Only 285 cases made. Price: $23.95 - Rating: ****+
