Coyote's Run 2012 Gewurztraminer - "David Sheppard 30th Vintage"
With Dave Sheppard, winemaker, celebrating 30 years as the man behind many an Ontario bottle of wine, Coyote's Run decided to honour the accomplishment with a special bottling. This Gewurzt is going to become a regular feature at Coyote's Run with the sad demise of my perennial favourite Pinot Blanc. The good news is this is a good wine to initiate the change over: nose of floral, lychee with a little saltiness and some soapy aspects. Palate is pretty and easy sipping with peachy, floral, lychee and spicy notes all mingling together and ending with a lovely linger that's not so heavy as to take over the palate. Seems that Dave has learned a little something about making good Gewurztraminer in his 30 years. This one's a real show stopper. Only 100 case produced. Price: $24.95 - Rating: ****+
