As much as I dig Cabernet Franc there wasn't much to dig about the wines made from the grapes in 2009. Sure some could be juicy, but depth was not their strong point ... blame that completely on the vintage. But then comes along this Stratus version - JL Groux picked these grapes in December ("I've never picked grape in December [for table wine] in my life"), but he's really coaxed much goodness from these grapes. Smoky tobacco, spice and raspberry are all the ingredients you'll find here, both nose and palate ... sounds simple but it's oh so tasty - it's simplicity makes it delicious.
