Bachelder Wines 2011 Chardonnay – Niagara
Thomas Bachelder makes three Chardonnays from Niagara fruit, two single vineyard offerings and this blend which is made from declassified fruit from those very vineyards with additional fruit from some other choice Niagara vineyards. The nose is full of pear, peach and lime – though hardly noticeable is the 17 months in barrel … even on the palate the fruit shines with apple and peach along with a seam of acidity that runs right down the center side-by-side with a dichotomy of creaminess – this all gives way to a green apple / lime meringue combo finish. Soon to be a Vintages Essential at the LCBO. Price: $29.95 – Rating: ****
