Those who got used to the fatness of the 2010 better hold onto their hats as this 2011 brings back some elegance to the Barrel Fermented Chardonnay. Now I like that fat-quality, as long as there was balance from the acidity ... and in the 2010 there was good acidity to balance out the richness. But in 2011 there wasn't the hot temps of 2010 and so we're back to some elegance, delicacy and finesse in the wine. The nose has canned pineapple, peach pit, lime zest, vanilla and hints of butteriness, but nothing is over-the-top. The palate shows peachy, apple-y with nice buttery notes and a decent amount of acidity for balance. What really stands out is the long buttery-peachy finish. Price: $13.95 - Rating: ****
