Rosewood Estates 2010 Chardonnay - Reserve, Natural Ferment
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't sound like a big deal, but this wine took 11 days to start fermenting ... that's a little scary for a winemaker. That's because Natalie Spytkowsky likes to play with natural fermentation and they can be a little unpredictable, but also can add amazing texture and mouthfeel to a wine. The nose here is lovely with aromas of butterscotch, nectarine, peach pit and smoked-vanilla. Best of all it tastes like it smells - has a sweet middle and a dry tart, almost bitter finish. At time of tasting (almost a year a half ago - (?)), it needed time, I'd say it's ready now and will last a good long time if you wanna lay it down. Price: $28.00 - Rating: ****+
