This is one hefty bottle of wine, and I’m not just taking about what’s inside the bottle – the bottle itself, I believe, is made of weapons grade glass. But enough with my alliterations, the nose has a real enticing roasted coffee bean aroma that mixes well with the cassis and oak spices. The palate has weighty elements like dark berries, coffee, spice and hearty tannins that may overwhelm those looking for something a little more fruit driven from 2010. This wine is made with the future in mind so it needs to lie down a few years to mellow … after that you’ll be happily grabbing this one out of the cellar for the next decade and beyond.
