The boys of Muscedere continue to impress vintage after vintage - they made up part of the new wave of wineries that entered the region in the mid-2000's, and while they have made very good white wines their specialty seems to be coaxing the best out of their red grapes. This version of Cabernet Franc from the 2011 vintage is smoky yet fruity with dark raspberries and cherries along with a persistent raspberry-tobacco core. Silky across the palate with enough spice to keep it interesting, then look out for the spiced raspberry finish. Price: $18.20 - Rating: ****+
