2009 was a great year for whites … I can’t stress that enough … the acidity that vintage spawned just makes whites refreshing and come alive in the mouth. This is what I like to call Flat Rock’s base-model Chardonnay and it surely benefitted from the vintage. The winemaker went with an 80-20 oak to stainless regime leading to a nose of lemon pith, toffee, lime zest, pineapple and passionfruit. The palate screams freshness with its limeade note along with some baked apple and a spiced replay on the finish. Price: $16.95 – Rating; ****+
