Redtail Vineyard 2007 Pinot Noir
This small winery has an output of only 500-600 cases, which, according to Gilbert (owner and winemaker) is enough for two people to handle (he runs the winery with wife and partner Pauline). This property consists of 5-acres, or 8700 vines, of which 2000 are Pinot Gris and the rest, 6700, go into making this Pinto Noir. This wine is unfiltered, so it has a cloudiness to it. But don’t be alarmed, it’s supposed to be that way. Aged 12-14 months in French oak, the wine has cranberry along with sweet and sour cherry aromas. In the mouth, there’s a pleasingly long cherry-strawberry finish. Price: $23.95 – Rating: ***
