Le Clos Jordanne 2006 CJV Chardonnay
If I were going to plop down forty-five dollars for a Chardonnay, this just might very well be the one to loosen my purse strings (so to speak). This is a single vineyard offering from Le Clos that was barrel fermented and then further aged another 16 months. When you talk cool climate Chardonnay, this fits the bill perfectly because the vintage was more typical for Ontario and suited the grapes better. This wine has become more integrated then when I first tasted it – that’s what 4 years will do. Vanilla and buttered toast lead off with butterscotch and hazelnut notes. The fruit is also pleasant and well integrated, especially the sweet tropical kiwi notes. Great depth of smells and flavours and balancing acidity – a real beauty. Price: $45.00 – Rating: ****½
