After tasting the Franc and Sauv you just know you’re in for a treat when it comes to the blend; especially since many winemakers are singing the praises of the Merlot grape in 2007. The ratio in this wine 54% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, and it’s got-it-all. A nose rich in blackberry and pepper, while the plate is even richer with all its fruit-juiciness (raspberry, strawberry, other red fruit and plum) and plenty of back up flavours, cinnamon and vanilla along with hints of spice and herbs all lying on a bed of fine smooth tannins. There’s also good ageability here (10 years or so), this is a wine you’ll be enjoying well into 2020. Price: $30 – Rating: *****
