The Old Third Vineyard 2008 Pinot Noir
The name of this winery comes from the historic records of the area. They are located on the old third concession road, which is now called Closson Road, hence when it came time to name the winery “Old Third Vineyard” seemed a fitting tribute and nod to the past. Old Third is a high density planting project putting 11,000 vines on 5 acres of land, the same amount of plants usually found on 8 acres of traditionally planted vineyard. This ’08 is the first commercially available offering of which only 1400 bottles were produced. Floral, sour cherry, nice tannins, good spice, perceptible minerality and a chalky finish make up the full picture of this wine – there’s a really nice balance here, and real promise for the future. Price: $35.00 – Rating: ****
