The Red Paw came out before Christmas and now here comes it’s brother, the Black Paw – it’s not that one got better, or more special treatment than the other, they just ran out of time to bottle – so the Black Paw sat, waiting and bided its time. The nose is very black cherry with traditional earthy character … the mouth is fruitier than it’s red counterpart with a lighter earthy quality – making this one the more fruit forward of the two. You may be wondering why the difference in price, $24 for the Red and $36 for the Black – turns out the black is a little more rare of a wine – fewer vines grow in the black soil at Coyote’s Run, one-third fewer vines.
