Henry of Pelham 2007 Reserve Cabernet/Merlot
Here is one of those 2007 'reserve' wines that took it's time to find its way to market, that's because the vintage was not only spectacular for reds, but the winemaker took his time to lovingly coax the best wine out of these grapes. The nose shows signs of good fruit with a touch of herbs, but it will take a few more months, if not years to totally reveal these aromas. The palate shows a few more signs of life: dark fruit, good acid backbone and nice tannin bite, but it too will need some time to come around fully. Buy now and stick in the cellar for a couple of years - or definitely decant before serving. Price: $24.95 - Rating: **** 1/2
