When talking about Ontario Gamay, Malivoire is one of two or three houses that are as consistent for quality Gamay, as the day is long. I know that when I see their name above the Gamay grape I'm in for something special. This 2009 Gamay speaks of a winery willing to put care into the making and bottling of this much maligned grape. The nose is all-spice and dried red cherry with a hint of cranberry. The palate is slightly spiced cherry: spiced mid-palate with a cherry finish ... the only downside is that it's very quick through the mouth with very little linger - I guess that means you'll have to have quicker sips, come to think of it, is that really a downside?
