Tawse 2010 Sketches Rosé
A sneak peak of this wine in the dead of winter seems like a funny thing to do, the last thing you wanna be drinking when the snow flies is a rosé. But when one can make you forget the weather outside, (which on this evening was truly frightful) then you know the wine's delightful. A pink blend of Gamay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that has intense cherry, raspberry and hints of bubblegum on the nose. Although the aromas hint at something sweet, in the mouth the taste is much drier than expected (but still with plenty of fruit). Great berry flavour with balanced acidity and a dry raspberry on the back palate that taunts you into taking another sip - then another and another. The true piece-de-resistance is the long, recurring cherry finish that just won't quit. This is a quenching quaffer made for summer. I tried it in the dead of winter, but you have a choice for when you drink it, choose wisely my friends. Price: $14.95 - Rating: **** 1/2
