Well made Ontario Merlots are diamonds in the rough, they don't start showing well until the third year - yet people insist on drinking them early (read: upon release). Here's one that needs time, and you should give it its due. Aged 30 months in 100% new French oak this wine is smoky, minerally and tight on the nose - so time should improve the smell ... the palate is beginning to open, still smoky but with dark fruit, dried blueberry and pencil shaving flavours ... give it another 2-3 years, but will easily age and evolve favourably over the next 7-8.
