This version of the Portfolio is a blend that begins with Merlot (41%), adds 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 18% Cabernet Franc then 8% Malbec and 7% Petit Verdot finishes the blend off … it’s aged 19 months in a mix of new and older French oak, of which 36% is new … but that only tells the tale by the numbers, and for a winery that is based around the numbers that should be it … but it ain’t: nice cassis and vanilla take control of the nose while on the palate there’s plenty of black fruit and ripe tannins with a silky, spicy and long finish.  Price: $54.95 - Rating: ****+
