I wish that wineries would give Pinot Blanc the attention it truly deserves. Here Prieler, of Austria, has taken 50 year old Pinot Blanc vines, from what they consider their best vineyard, and created a very limited (900 bottle) offering that would really make wine lovers stand up and take notice of the (wrongly perceived) lowly Pinot Blanc grape: floral and stony notes kick things off then add a mix of Bosc and Anjou pear for a pretty flavour profile.  Rating: ****+
