Craig McDonald has always played second fiddle on this Darryl Brooker started wine (Sauvignon Blanc originally launched in 2009) – until now … That 2009 was Darryl’s mic-drop moment at Trius: creating the wine, launching it, causing a stir with its brilliance, and then leaving for British Columbia; leaving Craig with the unenviable task of trying to match it. But this 2016 hits all the highlights Brooker had plus adds some of its own into the mix: grapefruit zest, guava and floral with good acidity backing it all up … it’s light, refreshing and a wine that continues to give something new with each bottle opened; at this price it remains one of the best value Savvy B’s in Niagara; this year even more.
