My absolute pleasure as a wine writer is to find those value priced gems, especially when they are Cabernet Francs … so this one fits the bill, twice. The Cave has foregone all other Bordeaux varieties to concentrate on Franc and this singular laser focus shows: 12 months in a mix of American and French oak has resulted in smoky-tobacco and raspberry with a cassis note and a long finish – great value and under $18 … this shows what Franc should be all about it its basic form.
