Nice part about a year like 2015 is you can achieve great, textbook “Syrah”, if that’s what you’re going for. Redstone has done just that with 18 months in French oak, 50% new – which turned out to be a great decision: smoky red and black cherry fruit with a very meaty middle that finishes with spice and pepper … there’s a rich texture in the mouth and a beautiful balance that makes this a wine to drink now or age 7-10 years.  Price: $39.95 – Rating: ****+
