This is the first time Leaning Post has made a single varietal Cabernet Franc using Wismer-Foxcroft fruit … actually it quite possible could be their first Franc made as well, and I think they should do it again, and as often as possible … 50% new oak for 20 months results in a rugged tannins wine, but with so much backing it you might just forget about the herbal, tobacco and white pepper on the nose, because the palate shows rich, savoury and black fruit elements with acidity that sits right on the cusp of being too much but it gets reined in by an inviting smoky character.
