This is a Rosso made from three grapes, the first being Sangiovese, but Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot also play a roll. A wine that can be aged a few years but is pleasant and quaffable right now upon opening: ripe red fruit, subtle spice, hints of graphite, and notes of blueberry on the finish. Fruit forward and highly drinkable – especially at its price, which makes it easy to become your mid-week house wine (when you feel like going Italian). Look for the new label design coming with this vintage. Rating: ****
