Well designed Pinot Noir takes time and forethought … this Stanner version took quite the route to get to bottle but it was so worth it. 85% estate fruit is mixed with 15% “other” spending 12-14 months in French oak (20% new) but before that happens we get whole berry soaking for 3 weeks then the fruit is lightly pressed to exact all that great juice without any bitter notes … the resulting wine is full of fruit forward notes with subtle oak lingering on the finish: floral and earthy elements jam with Byng and black cherry plus blackberry, anise and that lovely County-minerality. Great freshness. Price: $35.00 – Rating: ****+
