This barrel aged, barrel fermented Chardonnay spent a total of 12 months (or so) in oak, and as usual the Rusty Shed is a selection of barrels, and according to winemaker Dave Sheppard this version ended up with more new oak in the mix. There’s a buttery note to the wine, having gone through malolactic, but also balanced by nice Ontario acidity – mac apple, peach, pear and pineapple core also appear on the palate. Pretty white fruits aromas with floral nuances, creamy mid-palate and good length. Price: $26.95 – Rating: ****
