Lakeside seems to be a fan of American oak, and that shows off a sweeter side to the fruit they use and also a more robust side to flavours like vanilla – after 24 months this Syrah is punched up with cinnamon, black cherry and the aforementioned vanilla, but also has a subtle white pepper and smoked meat note.  Price: $22.52 - Rating: ****
