This is a much richer Chardonnay than last year’s version … Two years in barrel, having gone through both wild and barrel fermentation, with 20% new wood in the mix. Vanilla cream and butterscotch seem most prevalent with buttery and smoky notes; the fruit leans towards baked fruit pies like peach cobbler and apple tart … The acidity manages to pull it back from being too California-esque, but it’s still not my style of Chardonnay, though I certainly understand its appeal.
