Viognier is an uncommon white variety in Ontario, but that does not mean we can’t do interesting things with it. Nine months in neutral oak and we get a plethora of aromas and flavours that may overwhelm the senses if you let it: tropical fruit, spiced-vanilla, spiced-peach, floral, mineral, herbal, apple cobbler and spiced-pear all take a swing, none hit a homerun, but each gets up to bat and all get on base … the finish is waxy lanolin, lemon, melon rind and pineapple core ... now that’s complex.  Price: $35.00 - Rating: ****
