Scorched Earth is reportedly a Pinot Noir house, but the surprise here is they make an awfully good Merlot as well. Dark fruit galore with notes of cocoa backing it up. The tannin backbone keeps everything in line and that spicy finish keeps the dark fruit from stepping out of line. This is a delightful Merlot without an overly juicy-jammy finish.
