There’s a new player in the Gamay-game. They’re in Niagara-on-the-Lake, not the usual place to find Gamay in Ontario, but this vineyard was discovered by superstar winemaker Thomas Bachelder, who has turned their fruit into his Bai Xu labelled bottlings. This wine is made from the fruit Byland keeps and puts into the hands of another Ontario star winemaker Ann Sperling. A rich and flavourful Gamay that’s smooth and silky with black and red cherry, white pepper and an acidity that makes the wine pop. There’s a real prettiness of fruit and purity of drinkability here.  Price: $28.00 – Rating: ****+
