On the Road with the Grape Guy

On the Road with the Grape Guy is a on-going feature that follows me from event to event ... I post my thoughts, feelings and reviews of what happened and what I tasted ... basically it is here that I review the events I attend and the things that thrilled me.

Report from ... Montefalco: a Journey of Sagrantino, Day 1

09 Jul 2014

(June 22, 2014) -  This is a quick little jaunt (3 days) into the heart of the Umbria region, where 3 Canadians (Konrad Ejbich, Roberto Staiano and myself are about to discover the region of Montefalco and the wines made from the Sagrantino grape.

Day 1 was fairly relaxed.  We arrived early afternoon to Rome, then took a 2 hour car ride (I'll fully admit I slept through most of it) to Montefalco, where we arrived at Villa Pambuffetti and were greeted by Mauro, son-in-law of the owner.  Here we had or first tasting of both Sagrantino wine and Montefalco-hospitality.

Report from ... Austria: Vie Vinum 2014, Day 5

09 Jul 2014

Taking a look at the pictures and events that happened on our fifth (and final) day in Austria (June 16, 2014):

It's the last day of Vie Vinum and my last day in Austria ... I probably tasted less wine today than in the previous two days, but I tried better wines - that's what picking and choosing your way through rooms will do instead of just trying to get through a whole room.  As you will see in the pictures below, an attempt to get through a whole room would be a daunting task for anyone.  As is customary in many on my of my trips, I take a picture of the breakfast room on the last day, and where I begin my morning is where we shall start today's pictorial look ...
