On the Road with the Grape Guy is a on-going feature that follows me from event to event ... I post my thoughts, feelings and reviews of what happened and what I tasted ... basically it is here that I review the events I attend and the things that thrilled me.

Ornellaia was the second estate to be established in the region in 1985 ... they have a 90 hectare property made up of 65 plots that are farmed individually consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot; according to our host, Mr. Alessandro Lunardi, director US and Latin America, "each expresses a character we would like to translate into Ornellaia." Tonight at Far Niente restaurant in Toronto, Matias Rios, winemaker for Cono Sur, hosted a dinner (with Cono Sur's Ontario agent, Authentic) - one that featured a myriad of Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs, plus a couple of other special wines ... but the focus was on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay - here's a look at the wines and the evening ...
