Taste it Again: Tawse 2005 Echos Bistro Red (Nov. 2014)

13 Jan 2015

Check out my original notes on the wine from July 2007
and then go back and see other re-taste reviews of this wine:
October 2008 - February 2011 - September 2014

(November 19, 2014) ... I have retried this wine on a number of occasions (listed above) ... This one seems to be a little better than the last bottle I had, which is a good sign, cause last time out I was sure this wine was on its way out the door - now I'm not so sure.  Nose is cranberry, dried cherry, with hints of pencil shaving.  The palate shows a little sweetness with some cherry-tobacco and a pleasant finish ... With time it develops a more cherry / berry fruit and drops the shavings.  If I had to compartmentalize it I would say it comes off as a dense Pinot, which isn't a really big surprise from this producer, known for its quality and diverse line of Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.  My only advice here is drink now as there seems to be some diversity coming, or due to bottle variation, is already here.
