Taste it Again: Vineland 2010 Pinot Meunier

17 Dec 2017

Vinleand Meunier 2010(September 25, 2016) ... Alright, this is the only solo Pinot Meunier made in Ontario, and it's not made into a sparkling wine, it's a still red ... A real oddity, but winemaker Brian Schmidt needed a place to put this grape and decided to do something unique ... The aromas are deep, red ripe cherry, sweet cranberry, and hints of plum - it's surprisingly still quite the alluring wine at 6 years old and on the palate it's just as exciting: plum, and cherry, with great acidity and white pepper ... There's also a hint of earthiness, and cigarette smoke on the finish.  I even put a slight chill on the wine and that seemed to liven the fruit up to the point where I could swear this was a California Pinot Noir; it's a delicious bottle of wine and a shocker at that.
