Lenko 2010 OV Chard

(September 29, 2017) ... A Friday night after our bottle of bubbles, and now we select something that interests us separately:

Lenko 2010 Chardonnay, American Oak (Ontario, Canada) ... This was a disappointment to my wife, who is a Chardonnay fan to the endth degree, I like to find the threshold of how old your average bottle of Ontario Chardonnay can be, and still be tasty and drinkable - so far 6-7 years seems to be the sweet spot ... this one was an utter disaster from start to sink: burnt butter / rancid butter combined with a little burnt popcorn, really hard to drink, and even harder to taste; it lacks any kind of fruit, maybe, if I'm being charitable there's a little overly-toasted creme brulee note, but that is being kind. She moved on to something more recent ... if you are interested, here is the original review of this wine.

Wakefield 2008 Cab SauvWakefield 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (Australia) ... Myself I went for an Aussie cab that was under screwcap and truly in its prime: Violets and floral lead off the nose with a touch of dark plum, then on the palate in sweeps black cherry, cola, more plum, and even some chocolate - brilliant.
