Taste it Again / Lost & Found
On occasion, I’ll take a wine I like and put it away in a “special box” for a few years to see how it will age … below you will read happened to those wines. On the other hand, there are wines that get “lost” in my wine cellar with nary a review ever written - some have turned into golden Treasures, others supreme Trash and then there are those that fall somewhere in-between (Tolerable). We’ll look at those here too. (New wines are being added all the time so keep coming back):

(November 19, 2014) ... I have retried this wine on a number of occasions (listed above) ... This one seems to be a little better than the last bottle I had, which is a good sign, cause last time out I was sure this wine was on its way out the door - now I'm not so sure. Nose is cranberry, dried cherry, with hints of pencil shaving. The palate shows a little sweetness with some cherry-tobacco and a pleasant finish ... With time it develops a more cherry / berry fruit and drops the shavings. If I had to compartmentalize it I would say it comes off as a dense Pinot, which isn't a really big surprise from this producer, known for its quality and diverse line of Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. My only advice here is drink now as there seems to be some diversity coming, or due to bottle variation, is already here.

Original review can be found here
(November 8, 2014) ... I have long been a fan of the Red Paw Pinot, in its infancy, but have never tried one this old. At 7 years from vintage I was really not sure what to expect, but I have to say I was impressed by what I got. Nose is first and foremost earthy, with the balance of the aromas being floral and strawberry. I found the flavors to be quite pretty and followed the floral of the nose in the violet vein with gentle and delicate red fruit backing ... Not sure how much longer is left in the bottle, but it is sealed under screwcap so that should preserve it for some length of time more; but now is a pretty good time to crack the cap and enjoy.
