Ramon Roqueta 2008 Las Barracas Gran Reserva (Spain)

28 Dec 2017

Las Barracas 2008(December 22, 2016) ... My annual visit to my in-laws in the US where I picked up a case of wine from Virgin Wine Club, I had to drink a few bottles on this side of the pond to lighten the load going back home. This wine was a Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon blend that showed lots of wood with an underlay of cassis and anise, but cedar ruled on both the nose and palate, but there was also a smoky finish. Not a favourite but still drinkable.

Il Brutto 2013 Salento (Italy)

Il Brutto 2013

(November 28, 2016) ... A blend of two grapes (Negroamaro and Primitivo) of which the Negroamaro dominates at 80%: it has a rich and plumy nose that leads to a plum and black cherry palate with a subtle Christmas spice note on the finish.
