From the Cellar

Just because I started a website called OntarioWineReview.com doesn't mean it's All-Ontario-All-the-Time. When I kick back at night my mood (and sometimes my curiosity) decides my wine of choice. And the title should read, "Uncorked and Un-Screwed Tonight" ... but that just sounds wrong.

Masi 2006 Campofiorin (Italy)

Masi 2006 Campofiorin

(April 13, 2019) ... These Masi 5-star vintage wines are the bomb, and age so well; I decided to put this 2006 to the test of aging and was rewarded: spiced-plum, anise, and black cherry kicked things off, then there was the long finish that added hints of coffee some cherry kirsch and even some cassis notes.  Really pleasant and so happy I saved this one, though sadly it is my last bottle.

Tabali 2014 Vetas Blanca's Reserva Especial - Cabernet Franc (Chile)

19 Jun 2019

Tabali Cab Franc(April 7, 2019) ... If memory serves the reason I got this wine in the first place is because seeing a single variety Cabernet Franc outside of the Loire (or Ontario) is a rarity and curiosity got the better of me ... and now it's to find out how it has aged ... the answer: quite well.

The aromas are quite alluring right off the hop: mint, black cherry, vanilla, even some white pepper, mocha and cassis join the fray ... the palate was also quite interesting if not less giving with its notes of mocha, black cherry, tobacco and spice - it had a great mouthfeel that proved to be a little dusty on the finish, which increased the more it sat open.
