(October 2, 2016) ... This top tier Cabernet Franc from Pondview still has some life left in it, in fact it was tough to tell its age with all the black raspberry, tobacco, cassis, and spice it delivered to the palate and nose ... the finish was still a little gritty but another couple of years should smooth that right out.

(September 25, 2016) ... Alright, this is the only solo Pinot Meunier made in Ontario, and it's not made into a sparkling wine, it's a still red ... A real oddity, but winemaker Brian Schmidt needed a place to put this grape and decided to do something unique ... The aromas are deep, red ripe cherry, sweet cranberry, and hints of plum - it's surprisingly still quite the alluring wine at 6 years old and on the palate it's just as exciting: plum, and cherry, with great acidity and white pepper ... There's also a hint of earthiness, and cigarette smoke on the finish. I even put a slight chill on the wine and that seemed to liven the fruit up to the point where I could swear this was a California Pinot Noir; it's a delicious bottle of wine and a shocker at that.
